About Brent Ortego
This is the biography about the man who they call "Big Bird", well okay only a few people call him "Big Bird".
Brent Ortego, a wildlife diversity biologist with the Texas Parks and Wildlife Department based in Victoria, TX, specializes in the bird banding, and tracking of hummingbirds. His favorite hummingbird is the Buff-bellied variety that is indigenous to the South Texascoastal regions.
Brent is also the Texas Christmas Bird Count Editor and state coordinator for the U. S. Geological Survey Breeding Bird Survey.
